Day 6: So, You Want To Be Successful…

Welcome to Day 6 of Pinoy Network Marketing EXPOSED! Today’s topic is how to BE successful.

I know network marketers are in this business to be “successful.”  The main pattern of thought is…

–>“If I HAVE a lot of money

–> then I could DO what I want

–> and then I’d BE the person I want to be.”

This is the thinking that probably keeps more network marketers from success than just about anything else.

This is how the average Juan thinks.

This kind of thinking will get you an average life.

Now, since you’re reading this, I know for sure that you’re not after average.

What Successful Network Marketers Know That Most Never Will

Successful networkers know that success doesn’t come from the things you “do” or “have.”

It comes from who you are.

We all have heard success stories in network marketing where this and that person started with no money or education and yet became successful.

It is because the order to success is not HAVE–DO–BE; it is BE–DO–HAVE.

You see what successful networkers “HAVE” and seeing the things that they “DO,” you think,

“If I do those things, I can be successful too.”

You know why success doesn’t come?

It’s not that you’re doing the wrong things, it’s because you’re not being the person you need to be.

If you’re not being the person you need to be, all the “doing” in the world won’t get you very far.

What do I need to BE?

A common trait of successful people is that they NEVER stop learning.  Education never stops, not even for a pro.  They are always in pursuit of growth and personal development.

If there’s one thing you need to prioritize above all else, it is to continue to EDUCATE yourself.

Be like a sponge, ready to absorb anything and everything having to do with developing your knowledge and skills in leadership, business, sales and marketing in order to make the kind of money that can set you free.

T. Harv Eker, author of the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind said,

“If you stop growing, you start dying!”

I agree with him because you can’t just be stagnant. You’re always moving towards something, so either you improve or you rot.

Have you heard the famous “Sharpening the Saw” story?

A man was struggling in the woods to saw down a tree. An old farmer came by, watched for a while, then asked, “What are you doing?”

“Can’t you see?” the man impatiently replied, “I’m sawing down this tree.”

“You look exhausted,” said the farmer. “How long have you been at it?”

“Over five hours, and I’m beat,” replied the man.

“That saw looks pretty dull,” said the farmer. “Why don’t you take a break and sharpen it?”

“I don’t have time to sharpen the saw,” the man said. “I’m too busy sawing!”

If the man just took a few minutes to sharpen his saw, he would be able to save time and increase his productivity.

Some people think that sharpening the saw is taking a break or resting.

It’s fine to take a few days off or go on vacation to avoid burnout.  It does help but it’s not sharpening the saw… it’s putting down the saw.

If you just put the saw down without sharpening it, it’s still dull when you come back and work with it again.

In your business, to increase your productivity, you should sharpen your saw by attending trainings, learning new techniques, and learning from other marketers.

Forgetting to sharpen your saw and still using dull blades may lead you to a feeling of burnout and eventually giving up.

Whenever I feel burned out, taking a day or two helps me, but reading books and taking different courses to increase my knowledge or skills are more useful to me.

Your real wealth

I have personally spent time and money on seminars and books on mindset, leadership, and sales and marketing skills. I invest in books and seminars that increase my knowledge, develop myself, and therefore increase my value.

I even bought a PHP15,000 board game to help shift my mindset from employee to entrepreneur, to learn how to think like the rich.

Our most valuable asset is that gray matter between our ears. That is where your true wealth is, not in your bank account.

The more you develop yourself, the more you increase your worth because you have more value to share to others.

You see, when you make investments into your own knowledge, do not think about the cost, but think of the VALUE that you can get.

Investing in yourself is the best investment you can make, because no one can take away your skills.  It will pay you dividends for life.  The investment return is unlimited.

The knowledge and new skills I learned? I will always have it and be able to use it again and again if I wanted to, no matter how many “trees I have to cut down” – I mean, NO MATTER what business I get into.

You want to be successful?  Always take time to sharpen your saw.
